About

Emanuel Congregation is a Reform Synagogue in the Edgewater community. We are welcoming to ALL who want to join us. We also have a new initiative called 5959 Chicago (5959chicago.com). This is a cultural arts arm of Emanuel, but to serve the entire community. The 6 main areas are "Authors and Ideas", "Food & Fun", "Arts & Performance", "Health & Wellbeing", "Kids & Family" and "Life and Spirituality". We would love to partner with others on these various topics.

Emanuel Congregation, founded in 1880, is a Jewish Reform synagogue affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism. At Emanuel Congregation, we open our doors to all who seek richer, more meaningful lives. Together, our diverse community engages in prayer, lifelong learning and tikkun olam (repairing the world), empowering adults and children alike to apply Jewish values to our everyday lives and to be a collective force for good.
